New Rate Order - Effective April 2011

Effective on the April 2011 water bill, new water and sewer rates will go into effect for HCMUD No. 261 residential and commercial customers. The change primarily reflects a significant increase in the amount the District is charged for treated water by the City of Houston. We provide water to you through purchase from the City of Houston and Windfern Utility District. Our cost for City water has risen 85% since January 1, 2008. The sewer/trash rate will increase $3 a month to a flat $36. A copy of the rate order may be viewed here.

This is the first water and sewer rate increase since May 2000. 

The new water Rate Order remains tiered. Residential customers that consume water at or below the District monthly median will see a smaller increase than those above the median. Examples are found below.
