The WFUD Well that has been put offline is being cleaned and flushed.
After this process, samples will be taken from the well and the aquafer to determine the cause of the discolored water produced by this well. Water production lines have been redirected from this well while they continue working on the resolution.
WFUD/261 are currently using our interconnect to the City of Houston water. Accordingly, our disinfectant system has been changed back to chloramines vs chorine. We will continue with this disinfectant while we work on getting the Well back on line.
Chloramines, like Chlorine are used to disinfect drinking water, killing bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms that may cause illness. While Chloramines are safe, some individuals, like those undergoing dialysis, will need to be certain the disinfectant is completely removed from the water that is used for the dialysate.
Additionally, Chloramines, like chlorine are toxic to aquatic life and need to be filtered out before using in a fish tank.
We ask for your cooperation in conserving water until this issue is fully resolved. We will update you as we work to resolve this issue.
